Today she gains her ground. 

She sees a new tomorrow.

She relies on her God,

She takes a deep breath,

She hopes.

Some days there is a temptation to look back and be reminded of the all that was, 

Those moments and memories are all encompassing. 

Now is different.

At times she thought she would sink again, 

But she has found her anchor.

She feels the freedom to 

dream again,

trust again,

forgive again,

find joy again. 

Today she gains her ground,

She sees a new tomorrow,

She relies on her God,

She takes a deep breath,

She hopes.

She looks ahead and stands a little taller, 

She doesn’t have to shrink back because of what’s happening around her.

She cups her hands together, 

Places her thoughts, her dreams, and her pain in them and looks to the sky, 

She releases what was bound to her, 

And she closes her eyes.
